Starbucks Polo Club, Udaipur
Situated in the 'City of Lakes', the ideation of this artwork revolved mostly around sculpting together the oscillations of the lakes here with the Starbucks' muse, the Siren, along with some botanical inspiration from the traditional craft of Pichwai Painting.
A contemporary artwork embroidered by the craftswomen of Udaipur, using their signature satin, blanket and chain stitches. The elaborate and vibrant painting of the symbolic Starbucks' Siren on a cotton base is done to resonate with the myriad of colors one can witness throughtout the city. The tail of the Siren is done in a layered form to add texture, in natural leather which is local to Udaipur. The lotus botanicals are inspired from the backgrounds in the traditional style of painting, Pichwai.
The entire artwork is placed on a frame shaped like the famous 'Jharokha' windows, an age-old architectural element which continues to be iconic and well loved in this region. This contemporary co-creation keeps the essence of the traditional crafts of Udaipur alive, while allowing for innovation to open new markets.
