Starbucks Model Town, Jalandhar
The vision behind the artwork is to celebrate the origins of the Starbucks' coffee with the local materials and traditional designs of Jalandhar, Punjab.
The three animals represent the regions where Starbucks' coffee is harvested, namely, the Sumatran Tiger, the Kenyan Elephant and the Quetzal Bird from Guatemala. The animals are crafted of handmade leather local to Jalandhar, with details of Phulkari embroidery, an age old embroidery technique traditional to Punjab. The mandala designs at the back are crafted by local artisans, which are inspired by motifs and patterns used in the craft of woodcarving prevalent in Jalandhar.
