Starbucks Malviyanagar, Jaipur
A contemporary wall-art embroidered by the Banjara/Lambani women of Bansur village in Rajasthan, using their signature cross-stitch and traditional gota patti techniques native to the state. The elaborate screen printing of the signature Starbucks' Siren and coffee flowers was done by our artisans Kamlesh and Arif in the printing hub of Jaipur, Sanganer on a Khadi/cotton base woven by the skilled weavers of Lawan, Jaipur.
In this artwork, traditional pattu weaving border designs are transformed into abstract patterns embroidered on the background. The printed Siren and Coffee flowers deliberately break away from the rigidity of traditional forms, to allow a spontaneous organic flow.
This contemporary co-creation keeps the essence of the Traditional crafts of Rajasthan alive, while allowing for innovation to open new markets.
