Starbucks GS Road, Guwahati
Woven by the skilled craftsmen and women of Kokrajhar and Guwahati, this is a contemporary piece of art that celebrates the traditional weaving techniques of Assam using the local materials of Cane, Water Hyacinth and Eri Silk.
Meticulously made harmonic compositions which are a result of an extensive and elaborate process of hand-weaving using the natural fibres, where every weave comes together to create a piece of consequence. The Coffee flowers and leaves made in Cane and Meteka deliberately break away from the rigidity of traditional forms to allow a organic flow. The Coffee cherries in Tea-dyed Eri Silk only amplifies that spontaneous flow.
This contemporary co-creation keeps the essence of the Traditional crafts of Assam alive, while allowing for innovation to open new markets.
